Thank you for your interest in mentoring at Amana Academy and joining North Point Community Church’s efforts to help at-risk children in North Fulton.
A caring adult makes a difference in a child’s life. Mentoring builds self–esteem, improves numerous areas of academic performance, has a positive impact on attitudes, models positive citizenship, and expands horizons for a child. You can make this kind of difference!
You will be paired with an elementary or middle school student of your grade preference. Amana Academy has set times during the school day for you to visit.
A mentor commits to visiting the school at least once a month from September through May to spend an hour with his or her student. We’ll provide the curriculum to guide the time you spend. The curriculum covers a different virtue each month and provides games and fun activities to do together. You may also help your student with his or her schoolwork. Mentors visit their students during the set times given by Amana Academy.
All mentors must attend a training session and complete a background/fingerprint check before being paired with a student. Training will occur during the month of August.
