Let’s Move
Let's Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.
On February 9, the Let's Move! anniversary, the First Lady will deliver a major address focused specifically on the campaign's efforts to meet the needs of parents. Mrs. Obama will reach out to parents to commend them for the impact they have had on fundamentally shifting the conversation on childhood obesity this year. In a speech hosted by North Point Community Church and Ray of Hope Christian Church at North Point's congregation in Alpharetta, Georgia, Mrs. Obama will share personal reflections about how she came to this issue, discuss the issues parents deal with, and what has been achieved together. She will highlight accomplishments that help ensure parents have the resources they need to not only survive but thrive, and underscore the work that still needed to be done to reach young people at key touch points in their lives. North Point, one of the largest churches in America, is a non-denominational evangelical congregation known for nurturing strong families and ministers to more than 20,000 people each week. Ray of Hope Christian Church, one of the leading African American churches in Atlanta also known for strong family support, is partnering with North Point to host the First Lady. The audience will be comprised of parents who are members of both congregations, local faith and community leaders, and Let's Move! coalition members. This speech will be carried live on www.letsmove.gov.
