Session Five
Where's God?

In the face of grief, it’s normal to wonder, Where is God? Does he really exist? Why would he let this happen? It can be helpful to remember that there are only two directions you can move: toward God or away from him.
It may not feel like God is on your side, but take comfort in the truth: your heavenly Father knows and loves you. He sent his Son, Jesus, to die for you. He cares about the details of your life. He sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide you. He wants to help you. He wants you to rely on him.
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 31:8
Invite God into your grief. When you share your struggles with him, you take a step toward him. Moving toward your heavenly Father is a vital part of your grief journey. It will help you heal more deeply and fully.
Hope is not found in circumstances. It can be discovered in who God is.
