Session Two
Draw Up the Plan
When you were little, people probably asked you, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” What they were really asking was, “What do you want to do?” We spend much of our lives creating labels for ourselves in an effort to define who we are. Do you allow other people to influence your identity? What if God created you with an altogether different identity in mind?
After you watch the video, take some time to complete the exercises in the Design Plan and answer the Questions for Reflection below.
Design Plan
Review the “False Beliefs vs. Truths” and “In Christ” exercises provided and answer the Questions for Reflection below.
Questions for Reflection
- Why do you think people often define who they are by what they do?
- How would you identify yourself (lawyer, mom, runner, etc.)?
- What relationships or things do you believe you couldn’t live without? Have you ever considered that you may want that person or thing more than God?
- Why is finding your identity in relationships or things ultimately a flawed way of thinking?
- What is one thing you learned about your identity in Christ from the worksheet?
- What will you do with that knowledge?
- Spend some time reading through the truths counter to the beliefs you selected and reading them aloud.
