Hi, my name is Ming, and I am privileged to be a Starting Point leader.
When I first started attending North Point many years ago, I thought being a Starting Point leader would be so cool. To be able to watch people's faith stories come alive seemed like an amazing thing! But I was hesitant because I knew I didn't know all the answers to the questions people might ask me. I put that dream on the backburner and started serving in Waumba Land, then Upstreet and Transit, which were all such fun and incredible experiences! But the dream of serving at Starting Point never left me, and one day, I took the plunge and filled out the application.
Starting Point has a great leader training program. I was paired with experienced co-leaders who helped me through my first group. Now, after leading many groups, I absolutely love it as much as I thought I would. I don’t have all the answers, but now I know it's okay that I don't.
It is such a privilege to watch people process matters of faith, see things make sense for the first time, and start to follow Jesus! I have loved becoming friends with group members and sharing significant conversations.
I don't know that I would have thought I could inspire people to follow Jesus—it seemed like such a big thing. But by praying, showing up, and connecting, it's amazing to see what God does right in front of you!
