I’m Madison, and I serve as a small group leader to an amazing group of 8th-grade girls in Transit.
At first, I was hesitant to serve. I doubted my abilities and compared myself to other leaders. I questioned if I had enough life experience to lead a group of middle school girls or give them advice about what they were going through. The staff at Transit reassured me that I am enough for showing up every Sunday to sit with middle schoolers and help them grow. Through all the doubts I had, I felt God leading me to get uncomfortable and grow.
As Jesus followers, we are called to use our spiritual gifts to serve one another. Having a front-row seat to watch middle schoolers trust Jesus and grow in their faith is an incredible thing. It’s an honor to walk alongside these middle schoolers and remind them that they matter and belong!
During my middle school years, my parents got divorced and I lost my group of best friends. But I also fell in love with Jesus in middle school. In Transit, there are times when we laugh and jump around. But there are also moments of vulnerability and deeper conversations during our small group time. Through it all, I’m getting the chance to help inspire the girls in my group to follow Jesus and share their relationship with him with the world.
